| 'Remote working key to retaining top IT staff' |
| Thursday, Nov 20, 2008, Filed under: VoIP News |
Investing in hosted telecommunications technologies that allow workers to get on with their jobs in the comfort of their own homes can help businesses hold onto their most-talented IT specialists.
That is according to a new report in Computing Business which, having garnered the opinions of leading HR and IT professionals, has concluded that remote working can offer significant benefits to both workers and employers alike.
In addition to allowing businesses to cut back on their telecommunications overheads, applications such as VoIP also allow staff to adopt a more flexible lifestyle, particularly beneficial for IT specialists, many of whom feel they work best late at night rather than during the 'nine to five' workday hours.
Jeff Welstead, global director of human resources at SpinVox, told the publication: "Flexible working benefits are hugely important to IT staff. We find our technical teams are often motivated by intellectual challenges, training and development, working alongside bright colleagues and being able to work in an environment free from politics and bureaucracy."
This report comes just days after it was announced that members of the European parliament are set to join in the remote working revolution.
