Environment body 'takes on IP services to cut carbon footprint' (hyperlink to this story)

Natural England, the public body dedicated to conservation and the environment, is to take on IP telephony services across 44 sites to cuts its carbon footprint. It will install hostedVoIP and managed videoconferencing services, migrating all existing equipment onto one platform. Three "telephony estates" will be brought together by the move, which it is claimed will make the organisation a leader among government agencies on environmental issues. The ability to work outside of the office is one of the most popular employment benefits, according to a new survey. Almost three-quarters of respondents to the Hays Social Housing survey consider the option of remote working to be very important when choosing a job. Furthermore, 77 per cent state that their current job offers an element of the practice and suggests employers are accepting the need to change. Richard Gelder, director of Hays Social Housing, says the importance of offering attractive benefits such as remote working is being realised. He adds: "Striking a good work-life balance is very important to many workers and benefits that offer employees an element of flexibility in the workplace are becoming more common." read more... |
